Its new brawler ARMS, for example, manages to consistently hit 60 frames per second. Frame rate was also nice and buttery, which is not much of a surprise as Nintendo typically prioritizes hitting a stable frame rate over maintaining a high resolution. The game just pops visually and the ability to play Splatoon 2 on the go (or when a family member commandeers the TV) makes the game experience even better. That feeling of dread, however, soon got replaced by sheer disbelief. I actually still remember entering my first stretch of online matches for the first Splatoon game with the familiar sense of trepidation that I felt when playing most shooting games.
